Chicago and Tokyo were Friday eliminated as contenders to host of the 2016 Games. Still under consideration to host the two-week sporting spectacle are Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Madrid, Spain. Gareth Pugh is best known for his gothic, dark, all-black collections. For his Spring/Summer 2010 show in Paris, Gareth decided to throw everyone for a loop and do an entire collection in grey. Rihanna, Michael Stipe of REM, Adrian Grenier and heiress Daphne Guinness were all in the front row.
Gareth said that he wanted to do something melancholy and he did, but for some reason we didn't find it depressing. Maybe it was the male and female models wearing the same clothes, the fabulous leather pants and leggings (that you just know Rihanna has her eye on), the chain mail, the leather jackets, the feathered headpieces or the ripped dresses (which certainly made more sense in this collection than they did at Fendi or Prada). It was all very rock and roll goth in shades of grey. For his client base, it works. Take a look:
