Texas is ready to try by investing $3 billion over the next decade in cancer research and prevention, which would make the state the gatekeeper of the second largest pot of cancer research dollars in the country, behind only the National Cancer Institute. The proportion of Americans who support abortion rights is shrinking, according to a new poll released Thursday. A poll by the Pew Research Center found that 47 percent of Americans said abortion should be legal in all or most cases -- a 7-point drop from a survey conducted by the organization one year ago. An additional 45 percent said abortion should be illegal -- up 4 points from last year.
